Liz Hopkinson…Re-Inspired and Refined

Liz HopkinsonAfter nurturing her original catering business, Palate Pleasers, and reception venue, Cortland Mansion, to success in Washington County, Liz followed her heart and her passion for fine food and wine to the rolling vineyards of Northern California’s Wine Coast and its culinary capital, San Francisco. She spent the past year refining her tastes and techniques at The Perfect Pairing Culinary & Wine Sommelier School, studying under a robust menu of culinary experts and sommeliers — including Master Sommeliers David Glancy and Catherine “The Grape Goddess” Fallis.

When not honing her skills in the classroom, Liz sipped and tasted her way throughout the Napa and Sonoma Valleys — the stunning regions known for their majestic rustic landscapes and fresh-and-seasonal culinary tradition. Among the highlights of her stay was the opportunity to take part in two world-class events at the legendary Pebble Beach Resorts between Carmel and Monterey: The AT&T Pebble Peach National Pro-Am and the 4th annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival.

Liz’s travels deepened her appreciation for cooking with organic and sustainable ingredients to craft simple dishes with bold flavors, and for the art of pairing select vintages with these dishes to bring out the fullness in both the food and wine.

Re-inspired by her experience on the West Coast and excited to share the fruits of her journey, Liz recently returned to Maryland to reinvent her catering business and to open a new reception destination — both reflecting her renewed commitment to using the freshest regional meats, seafood and produce in creative menus worthy of Your Next Occasion. The personalized gourmet catering menus — paired with Liz’s enthusiasm for creative experimentation and her warm and sassy signature style — promise a celebration you will savor long after the last toast
